Blocking Websites without Software!
Need to block websites without software from your children on Windows XP? Or need to block websites from brothers, sisters, or just any kind of family member? Well you have came to the right spot for tips and tricks!
Blocking websites without software, you need 2 things. The first one is Notepad, or any text editor like NotePad++. The second thing you need is access to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. Ok now lets get into the process of blocking websites. This can be completed in 2 minutes.
#1) Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
#2) Find the file with the name “hosts” and open it in notepad or any text editor
#3) Hit ‘enter’ after
127.0.0.1 localhost
#4) Add:
127.0.0.2 www.EnterSiteToBlockHere.com
(replace that URL with the one you want to block)
#5) Save the file.
Now that website should no longer be accessible.
If you want to block more websites, just repeat steps 1 through 3. Then for step 4, just change 127.0.0.2 to 127.0.0.3
